During the Confirmation service the bishop places his/her hands on the head of the candidate and with prayers "confirms" that the person is an Episcopalian, or Catholic, or other denomination. This is the worship service rite through which a person becomes an Episcopalian, or Catholic, or other. It is customary for the bishop’s office to provide the Confirmation certificate to the newly confirmed individual. You may find appropriate gifts for a person who is being Confirmed in our Confirmation Gift Suggestion section.                                                                              –By John
